The Tourism and Handicap label testifies to the quality of the Aquarium La Rochelle’s facilities for the reception of people with motor, hearing and mental disabilities. This distinction rewards the major work carried out in January 2018 as well as its historic investment.
Tourism & Handicap label aims to provide reliable, descriptive and objective information on the accessibility of tourist sites and facilities, taking into account major disabilities such as motor, hearing or mental handicaps, and to develop an adapted tourist offer that is integrated into the generalist offer. Since its creation, the Aquarium La Rochelle has been anxious to be able to provide an appropriate response to the needs of each type of public. In January 2018, the first tourist site in Charente Maritime exceptionally closed its doors for four weeks of work, a premiere since 2009. Two million euros have been invested to continue to improve the quality of the visit for its 800,000 visitors. In addition to the infrastructures, the Aquarium has set up a dedicated commercial offer to enable everyone to Dream and Understand the Sea”.
